Terms and Conditions for Hire Sets

Mercian offer a hire service of specific key instrument sets and equipment covering the following specialities:

  • Spinal Surgery
  • Plastic & Micro Surgery
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Maxillo Facial Surgery
  • Arthroscopy Surgery

A selection of other sets available.

Sets hired on a case-by-case basis, however longer periods of

hire can be arranged at a negotiated cost.

Sets allocated on a first come, first served basis. Short notice

including same day delivery subject to availability

  1. Browse available sets

  2. Request availability via the enquiry form or hire line.

  3. Receive delivery.

  4. Return or extend hire as needed.

A minimum of 2 days’ notice of hire date is required when booking a set.

If a case is cancelled but the set has already been dispatched from Mercian, the hire charge will still apply.

No set will be dispatched without an official order number and full contact name and direct telephone number of theatre staff who will be responsible for the safe keeping and return of the set.

Hire Sets which are not returned to Mercian within 5 days following the date of their use are subject to an overstay fee of £395 per week chargeable on the 1st day after the 5th day and then every week following this date.

Hire charges accumulated cannot be offset against any future purchase order for the sets.

Any damage to Instruments within the sets which are identified once the set are returned will be charged to the user.

Content’s list must be checked on receipt by named member of theatre staff and any discrepancies must be notified to Mercian hire coordinator immediately.

Our Hire sets whilst at Hospital are considered to be goods held under trust and as such the liability for any loss or damage resides with the Hospital concerned while in their care.

A fully completed decontamination certificate in accordance with HTM 2010 & HTM 2030 must be enclosed within the document folder provided on the return of a set. Sets returned without a decontamination form will have to be isolated and as such excess charges set out above will be applied until such time as a valid decontamination form is provided.

All sets must be re-packaged in a secure box with the Mercian returns label clearly shown ready for collection.
